Un poquito más about Alba
Alba knew she wanted to spend her life on a set when first shooting a short film during a scriptwriting course led by Guillermo Arriaga in her bachelor years, and from then on she did what any eager, keen and youngster would do - plunge in fully!
She acquired her great sense for emotional pieces and her carefully crafted “mise-en-scéne” while assisting acclaimed Mexican directors as their 1st AD for many years in the advertising scene.
Alba cherishes all the knowledge she collected working alongside her mentors, where she got inspired and held lots of creative responsibilities too.
Her next most obvious step was to become a commercial director in Mexico but after ten years of that exciting, fast-paced life she heeded the call to challenge herself in other ways and decided to go on a life-altering adventure. So, she moved to Montreal in 2010 where she embraced the immigrant life, learned French, had a child and forged her way to become a director in several television true-crime series for American and Canadian audiences.
Alba strongly believes in community and collaboration. She thrives by working with creative peers and is devoted to the craft of directing actors.
Her mindfulness practice, which has been one of Montreal’s greatest legacies to her, has deeply informed her attentive and kind presence as a director. Alba’s filmmaking process is calm and respectful for everyone working with her. She is particularly skilled at using creative thinking to achieve project milestones in an efficient and cost-effective way.
Alba is fluent in English, Spanish and French and is currently writing and co-writing several narrative projects.
Alba is a member of Free The Work and HireBIPOC.
